This week’s tip is to work on bringing your practice into daily life. We spend relatively little time sitting in meditation. Although formal meditation can provide great insight and stability in our practice, we also must bring our practice into daily life. As we begin to find ways to practice in our lives, we can cultivate mindfulness in new ways, and have a more continual, consistent practice.
There are many ways to do this. You may practice an informal walking meditation while walking throughout your day. Bring attention to the feet, the sensations in the body, or anything else happening in your experience. You may bring mindfulness to a specific activity you do every day, such as brushing your teeth, eating, or talking on the phone. Start with one activity and set the intention to bring mindfulness to it, to be present for it. Try to be aware of what is going on in your experience.
I also offer Beginner’s Tips on my podcast “Dharma Talk.” Listen to a friend and me talk about these tips in more depth at www.EasierSofter.com/DharmaTalk.[x_section padding_top="0" padding_bottom="0"][x_row][x_column type="1/1"] [/x_column][/x_row][/x_section]
