Community, or sangha, is very important in Buddhism. As one of the Three Refuges, community is one of the things we turn toward to seek liberation, one of the things we take refuge in. Sitting with a community can be extremely helpful. We’re encouraged by others, learn from shared experience, and can build healthy friendships. Take the time to see if there’s a meditation center or group in your area. If you’re not sure and would like a recommendation, please feel free to email me.
If you’re unable to find a local sangha, there are plenty of opportunities to connect online. There are forums, Facebook groups, online meditation groups, and many other ways to connect. Look around. Finding a sangha has been really helpful to me, and I hope you can find a community that works for you!
