Thank you for your excellent comment, it is much appreciated. I agree with pretty much all of your comments and am myself a follower of the way. I do think though that hypnosis can help overcome issues that are part of our conditioning and that by overcoming them we free ourselves. When I stopped smoking using hypnosis and augmented by meditation I experienced joy and well being, that has been my experience. One develops a feel for what is right for us during our short stay here. Peace, Mark

Hypnosis works to change your thinking, not to attract anything. You stop wanting to smoke. You make better trading decisions. You like yourself more. You meditate better.

The LOA is a con because it is a half-truth. "Half of the truth is often a whole lie," said Benjamin Franklin. The LOA says, "What you put out is what you get back." But what you put out is never ALL you get back.

Take Jesus, who put out only loving-kindness and got crucified as well as loved. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, your father who worked hard and never got rich... you. No matter how much good you put out, you get bad in return as well as good.

"You're doing it wrong, then," say the LOA conmen. So they charge you more money for more "Secrets" that send you digging up your soul in search of the bad that you're subconsciously putting out. But it isn't there, so you keep condemning yourself and giving the conmen more money for more "Secrets" that never work because the whole truth isn't in them.

The whole truth is the full, terrible law of Karma:

From every action arise multiple effects, each of which has Yin and Yang.

Quit smoking and your lungs' physical health will improve. But, deprived of nicotine's antidepressant qualities, your body may plummet into suicidal depression.

Make more money and you will acquire more things that give you pleasure. You will also acquire greed, an insatiable desire for even more money. "To stop suffering, stop greediness," said the Buddha.

Acquire love and you acquire the fear of losing love. You become jealous, suspicious, controlling. "He that is jealous is not in love," said St. Augustine.

These are only simple examples of two effects that one action can have. Every action has many more than two effects. Every effect has both Yin and Yang; good and bad; desirable and undesirable qualities.

You cannot predict or control all the effects that any action will cause, or the Yin and Yang of each effect. Therefore there is no "law" that can guide your actions. Every law that says "Do this and this will happen" is a half-truth, therefore a whole lie.

In the absence of law, there is Chaos: randomness, chance, uncertainty, serendipity. To know the full, terrible Karma is to recognize that the universe is in Chaos. That should come as no surprise.

All scientists and religious people agree that the universe arose from Chaos and will end in Chaos. Yet most of them insist that it is not in Chaos right now. It is the ego which insists upon this delusion of order, of law.

The ego desperately wants to be significant, to make a difference. Only if there is law and order to the universe can the ego do something, point to the result, and say, "I made a difference. I accomplished something."

The ego desperately wants to be safe, to have nothing unpleasant happen to it. It wants to believe that if it avoids risks and does only good, then nothing bad will happen to it.

The ego desperately wants to be loved: approved of, esteemed, desired, deemed worthy of existence. It wants to believe that if it loves everything and everyone then it will be loved in return.

But none of that is true. There is no law which ensures that anything you do will have the effect that you desire. There is only the Chaotic Karma in which anything you do will have effects you don't want; nothing you do will ensure your safety; and your loving will be rewarded with hatred or worse, indifference.

The universe is under no obligation to make sense to you. The good news is, you are under no obligation to make sense of the universe. You need not struggle to discover its non-existent laws and obey them. You are free to do whatever you wish.

What you wish is to be happy, of course. That is the state of being for which all life strives naturally. Happiness is the effect that life seeks to cause by its every action.

"If you want happiness, help someone,' said the Buddha. it's that simple. Every honest, true thing is simple. it doesn't cost a lot of money. It isn't hard to learn or to practice. It doesn't take a lot of time to master. Just help someone and you will be happy. Happiness is the natural reward of Kindness.
